Important Reminder: The network is only ICly accessible to those in Auradon. Should this change over the course of the game, this information will be updated, but for now it's inaccessible to those on the Isle.
But to make sure it is accessible to everyone on the Auradon side, King Ben will be distributing free smartphones to new arrivals at his first speech mini event, a few days after game open. Anyone who arrives after the initial few- either by arriving directly in Auradon or earning their way there from the Isle- will also receive a free smartphone shortly after landing, though there may not be any more direct 'distribution events'. Any similar devices that characters may have arrived with will lose any 'online' communication or signaling ability for the present, though any 'offline' files and features will still be accessible.
The phones allow for all the standard messaging options: text, audio, and video. Any of these can be locked to certain individuals, and text messages can be made ICly anonymous as well. And being smart phones, they also have a number of additional features.
( Features under the cut )

[Didn't want your phone blown up with random memes or stupid jokes? Too bad! Little Lea had discovered the Auranet, and no one was safe!
Hey, hey, pop-quiz time! Why is a pair of underwear like a pirate's treasure chest?

(OOC: Feel free to respond to the joke and/or any of the memes! Memes under cuts to save space but would show up on characters' phones as plain images.)

Video- Setting Up Shop

[When Gabriel appeared on the network, it was clear that he was outside somewhere. Exactly where would be revealed a moment later.]
Hello, everyone. For the few of you who may not have spoken to me personally, my name is Gabriel Agreste, Misrecalled and fashion designer. This is simply to announce that after getting young King Ben's permission, I'll be setting up shop in Mouse Made Gear in the shopping plaza.
[He briefly turned the phone camera so the camera showed said shop front that he was standing in front of.]
The supplies and equipment here will make producing clothes for those both here and on the Isle significantly easier. I'll likely be spending at least part of the day here most days, so if you need me and can't find me at the school, this is likely where I am. Thank you.
[With that, he finishes his initial broadcast, though he's more than open to replies and questions. Those who pass by the shop, meanwhile, will find a handmade sign reading 'Temporarily Under New Management' in neat, crisp handwriting taped to the door where it can be easily seen.]

So... this doesn't look good... I am new here but I am a nurse. Also, this place is not what I imagined when I blinked.

Who: Enki → Æn'kae & the network
What: A request
Warnings:Awkwardness? Probably none.
Jolan'tru. I um.
[A pause as he wrinkled his nose in annoyance at himself.]
Oh. This shouldn't make me as nervous as it does.
I uh, after we got those memories a few months ago, I um, I kind of came to a realization about my name and I... want to switch to using what it was actually meant to be? At least, I think it was.
[He gave a nervous smile and cleared his throat, trying to work something out. When he did the text 'Æn'kae' appeared on screen.]
That is, umm, 'Ayn-Key'. Technically speaking 'Ayn-Kay' or even "An-Key were other ways to say it, it's more of a dialect thing? And I don't know which it was meant to be for sure. I'll never know that. But I uh, I do know that my teacher, who... [Who he clearly saw as a father?] whose uh, intent I do know, always called me 'Ayn-Key'. So uh that-that's the pronunciation I'd prefer.
Anyway...
[Æn'kae rubbed at the back of his neck.]
I know you may not find changing names or having multiple to be normal. I mean, it's not like I ever bothered with it before. But I've been debating since I realized and... this is important to me and I'd like to do this. And thanks for listening, I guess?
Ah, jolan'tru.
[That parting practically mumbled as he shut off the video.]
Also? I know typing Æ is not the most intuitive thing in the world, so feel free to use Aen'kae instead. I know I will sometimes! That said, if you want to use it:

OOC Notes
Sooooo I apologize on this boy's name change. I have been trying to stick with a name made thinking the char wouldn't last and it's gotten increasingly difficult and seeing as I had an explanation I jumped on it.Also? I know typing Æ is not the most intuitive thing in the world, so feel free to use Aen'kae instead. I know I will sometimes! That said, if you want to use it:
- On the iPhone if you hold down the A, Æ appears in the special character options.
- It looks like it works via holding down A on a Mac or Android device as well, but I can't vouch for either.
- On a windows computer with a number pad it's Alt 146.
- On a computer without a number pad, your options are basically copy pasting or going to the character map program, which is frustrating. (I speak from experience, my home computer is like this.)

[The king came on the video, nicely put together. The camera was propped somewhere steady, it seemed, right at face level so he seemed to be looking earnestly at the viewer.]
"People of Auradon, it seems as though some of the eggs we recently found have begun to hatch. We are setting up a temporary enclosure for our new friends in the second ballroom. If you hav found any, you are welcome to bring them there. Thank you."
[The feed cut off, though he will respond to messages.]

[Sylvando appears on everyone's phones and gives a cheerful wave.]
Hello, darlings! How are all of you this fine day?
In case anyone hasn't noticed yet, there have been some rather fabulous looking eggs turning up around the school lately.
[He holds up a glittery purple egg as an example.]
They do tend to turn up in odd places, though- I found this one under a chair- and no one seems to know quite where they've come from. Our dear queen Mal is looking into that, but in the meantime, I say we take advantage of these mystery eggs to have a bit of fun. Namely, an egg-finding contest! The one who finds the most eggs and brings them back to yours truly will win a fresh-baked treat all their own. Doesn't that sound fabulous?
And if your egg-finding skills aren't quite up to par, do not fear! For once the eggs have been collected, the fun doesn't stop there! The one who can create the most fabulous display of the colorful eggs- as judged by the great Sylvando- will get the same prize as our expert egg hunter!
Meanwhile, I'll be joining in the hunt myself of course, but feel free to bring me your collected eggs wherever you happen to find me. Ciao for now, my loves!

[The screen was tight on Nadeshiko's face. Her ponytail was pulled tight behind her head, laving just her bangs and a few wisps to either side to frame her face. Below her chin was a sight familiar to some, of not all of the people here; the blankets from the boys' rooms were wrapped around her protectively.]
"Hello! My name is Fujisaki Nadeshiko. Some of you have met my twin brother, Nagihiko. I'm sorry." [She gave a soft smile, her head tilted. It was hard to tell if she was kidding or not with her apology.] "We arrived together, but unlike him, I wasn't dressed for school. He was supposed to find a shop, but said that he couldn't. So... is there any chance anyone has a dress I could buy off of you? And maybe some boots? I would really appreciate it. It is a little cold in here to just be in my sleep clothing. Thank you."

[Lea appears on people's phones, standing in what's clearly the school's main lobby.]
Hey everyone! Just wanted to let everyone know that the info booth for new arrivals is all set up. Anyone who's willing can volunteer to man it for awhile, but I think it's set up that new people should be able to get the basics at least even if there's no one here to answer questions directly.
[Lea turns the camera to a large table that has been set up in the lobby near the foot of the main staircases. It's be covered with a nice tablecloth to disguise the fact that it's a folding table, and behind it are two office chairs borrowed from somewhere. In the middle of it is a poster-sized laminated map of the school and its grounds, detailing the locations of the dorms, kitchens, bathrooms, and other important amenities. To one side of the map is a box with about a dozen still packaged phones, ready for distribution. To the other is a document tray containing a stack of nicely printed information sheets for new arrivals. Attached to the front is a sign reading 'New Arrival Information' in bold, blue letters.]
Anyway, just wanted to let everybody know. Now I gotta see if I can find a ladder to hang up the banner on the statue outside. See ya later!

[The camera opened on King Ben, sitting on his throne. He took a deep breath, then removed his crown and set it aside, looking right at the camera.]
"People of Auradon, Missrecalled, I ask for your help both as king... and as myself. Mal is ready to step into her role as the queen we need right now. Sylvando and I are going to be working on preparing for her coronation. We are asking anyone who is willing and able, to help. This is of course voluntary. But.."
[He ran a hand through his hair, a bit unsure.]
"There will be snacks. And music. And we can spend some time just spending time as well as decorating and planning. So please, feel free to stop by. Thank you."

[video]- A few days after Ben's speech
Nov. 21st, 2022 02:14 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
[A message from Lea appears on everyone's phones.]
So I was thinking... we don't know when more people are gonna turn up, but it's a pretty safe bet that eventually they will. And it's not super practical to have people walking around specifically looking for new arrivals all the time, or to throw a party and make a big speech every time new people show up.
So how about we set up a spot somewhere, like in the front entrance hall of the school, that's like an information booth? We could take turns manning it in case anyone turned up, and if anyone did, we could answer questions, hand out phones, try and explain the situation, stuff like that. We could maybe even print up some pamphlets or something that cover the information Ben went over in his speech, so we don't have to keep repeating the same basic stuff all the time. And to make sure people know where to go, we could hang a banner on the big 'Auradon Prep' sign; it's a big obvious landmark, so it'd be hard to miss, and the banner would serve double duty covering up the bottom part of the sign and making it seem less full of itself. What do you guys think?
Also, is it just me, or is everything way too... perfect, around here, appearance wise? And I mean like creepily perfect. Not just the grounds, but all the public areas, all the rooms I looked into before we were told which ones were off limits, everything.
There's nothing out of place that can't be explained by people just suddenly vanishing. No one's bed was unmade. No one's desk had just randomly accumulated stuff. The desks in the classrooms all look pretty much brand new. There's no cup rings on any of the tables, no fingerprints on the glass, no books in the library with dog-eared pages that I've seen, no random mysterious stain on the carpet that's probably been there forever, no scratches in the woodwork, nothing. What's up with that?
